Beginning of the year August 2019

Welcome back to a new school year! Here are some things you will need to know as we kick this year off:

Supplies for class:
  • Explorations: Pencils, a folder for handed back work, loose-leaf paper, and a free reading book.
  • 7th Grade Math: Composition notebook (very important!), pencils, a folder for handed back work, loose-leaf paper, 2 whiteboard markers, and any other pens or highlighters you feel will enhance your note-taking. A free reading book will also be required every day.
Please try to have these supplies by Friday, August 9th.

Parent Homework:
Attached below is a copy of the parent's homework. There will also be a hard copy sent home during the first full week of school and is due within the first two weeks of school.
Growth Mindset:
Students will learn the first week about having a growth mindset. Parents, please ask your child what growth mindset means and how they can have a growth mindset throughout the year.

August 26th-30th week update 7th Grade

New Week... New Content  We just finished our first assessment on Tuesday for our addition and subtraction integer unit. Starting Thursday, we will be discussing multiplication and division of integers. Grades will be put into planners on Monday and will need a parent signature by Friday. If there are any concerns about grades on assignments or assessments, any student can talk with Mrs. Henke to raise their grade.

Syllabus Sy 2019-20

Syllabus Planners: With the school's new policy, planners must be signed once a week by Friday. This will confirm that parents have reviewed the grades students were given Monday morning. Signatures will be checked on Friday during study hall. Absences: If your child is absent, they will need to meet with Mrs. Henke and receive all the classwork that they have missed. Most work can be completed in class the next day. However, if the child needs to bring the work home, they will determine with Mrs. Henke an appropriate time that the work will be due. This is to ensure no student will fall behind.  Silent Reading Book: Please make sure your child has a free reading book with them every day in class. When students have extra time after bellwork they need to be reading their book. Students can borrow free reading books from the Language Arts teacher if they do not have any at home. Homework: The policy for this class is "no wasted time means, no homework"....
